About ISKCON Hadapsar

“Everyone, therefore, should try to take this process of Kṛṣṇa consciousness and reach the highest perfection of life.” — Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 3.25.26

Foundation of ISKCON Hadapsar

ISKCON Hadapsar began two years ago in Pune’s Hadapsar area to share Śrīla Prabhupāda’s teachings with families, students, and professionals. The center is part of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, founded in 1966 by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda.

Its purpose is to give everyone the chance to remember Kṛṣṇa, chant His holy names, and live a life of service and devotion.

“The International Society for Krishna Consciousness has been established to facilitate these six kinds of loving exchanges between devotees.”
Nectar of Instruction, Text 4
“The Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is meant to give relief to all these bewildered and distressed persons; therefore it is the greatest relief work for all human society.”
Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 4.7.28 Purport

Mission & Vision

ISKCON Hadapsar’s mission is to awaken Kṛṣṇa consciousness in every heart through nāma-saṅkīrtana, study of Bhagavad-gītā, prasādam, and service to others.

“At the present moment practically the entire world is afraid of rogues and nondevotees; therefore this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is started to save the world from irreligious principles.”
Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 4.28.48
“The aim of this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is to bring all living entities back to their original consciousness.”
Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 8.7.44

Philosophy — Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava Bhakti

ISKCON Hadapsar follows the Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava philosophy taught by Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu and transmitted through the disciplic succession of pure devotees. The essence is loving devotional service (bhakti) to Kṛṣṇa without motive or interruption.

“The living entity is the fragmental part and parcel of the Supreme Lord—eternally.”
Bhagavad-gītā 15.7 Purport
“I identify Myself only as the servant of the servant of the servant of the lotus feet of Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the maintainer of the gopīs.”
Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 13.80
“Bhakti, or devotional service, means engaging all our senses in the service of the Lord.”
Nectar of Instruction, Verse 1 Purport

Youth and Service — Utsah

Recognizing that young people are the future torchbearers of the movement, ISKCON Hadapsar runs youth gatherings, Gītā study sessions, and seva opportunities under its “Utsah” program.

“If children are given a chance to develop Kṛṣṇa consciousness from the very beginning of their lives, then there is a great hope of their successfully being saved from the clutches of māyā.”
Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 7.6.1 Purport

Leadership

Guided by senior devotees of ISKCON Pune, the Hadapsar center follows Śrīla Prabhupāda’s standard that true leadership means exemplary character and humble service.

“The leaders of society must be so ideal that by following them one can be relieved from the clutches of material existence.”
Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 5.4.15 Purport
“People in general always require a leader who can teach the public by practical behavior.”
Bhagavad-gītā As It Is 3.21 Purport
